The headquarters of Praher Plastics Austria GmbH is situated in the peaceful and contemplative village of Schwertberg, in the Mühlviertel, in the plain between the Danube river and the beginning rolling hills of the Mühlviertel. This is exactly where Ludwig Praher founded the company in 1971 as one-man operation producing technical plastics and plastic injection moulds for the production of the parts.
Today, the company produces high-quality valves and fittings for industrial piping systems and the pool industry and realizes customized functional parts and assemblies on fully automated injection moulding machines. The in-house research and development department cooperates closely with universities and research institutes. New ideas are first implemented in the heart of the company: the mould making department and increasingly with three-dimensional printing techniques. Our centralized procurement system ensures continuous supply with high-quality raw materials. Fully-automated robot systems, developed in-company, explore new avenues in the production of quality plastic valves. The company is now managed in second generation by Winfried Praher together with Rainer Pühringer.
A second production site is located in Barrie/Canada. Founded in 1986, today, the site manufactures especially for the requirements of the North-American market and essentially controls the sales activities for this market.
In some core markets, as Germany, Czech Republic and Middle East, we are represented by autonomous branches. Under the independent company name Peraplas, these branches offer close service including warehousing and logistics.

Milestones in corporate history
Ludwig Praher begins the company history by founding “Ludwig Praher Kunststoffverarbeitung und Formenbau”. This one-man operation began with the production of technical plastics and plastic injection moulds for production of the parts.
The first building is constructed at the current site in Schwertberg. This marks the start of the production of valves – such as the first ball valve of type S1 – and the first accessories for mechanical engineering.
First exporting activities to neighbouring countries.
Production start of industrial ball valve series S4 and expansion of the company at the Schwertberg site.
A separate production site in Canada is established to meet rising demand.
A dedicated sales office is founded in Germany. This is followed a few years later by offices in Spain and the Czech Republic.
The company is certified according to ISO 9001 ff.
After smaller and larger phases of expansion at the original site in Schwertberg, the most extensive expansion so far now takes place: a fully automated high-bay warehouse with a capacity of over 4,000 pallets goes into operation.
The company passes through another growth phase. New production halls for large machinery are built in Schwertberg.
The constantly expanding product portfolio leads to a restructuring: “Praher Valves GmbH” is founded for industrial products and “Peraqua Professional Water Products GmbH” for the swimming pool and natural pool industry. The production, tool and mold manufacturing as well as other departments of the founding plant are collected together under “Praher Kunststofftechnik”.
The Dutch company “IBG” is acquired and integrated into the Praher Group as IBG-PRAHER B.V.
A new company building is opened at the primary location with storage and logistics space on the ground floor. Break rooms for the employees are situated on the second floor, while the third floor is reserved as new office space for “Praher Valves”. At the same time, sales offices and representation offices are established in Dubai and Malaysia.
The conveyor systems and high-bay warehouse in Schwertberg are modernized.
Two important areas of the Praher family are successfully merged: “Praher Valves” and “Praher Kunststofftechnik” become “Praher Plastics”. This brings transparent structures and a particularly high level of efficiency along with a clearer focus on industry.
